“He Lives” by Edrei Jones
I wish I could have been there
When Christ, my sins did bare.
I wish I could have seen
The way He crumpled to His knees.
It would’ve stung right to my core,
To see the cross my Savior bore.
To see Him wince and call for Father,
To be among the crowd that gathered.
The pain of it was surely horrid,
But what came next was even more.
An empty tomb, death had no power.
For He rose again in those early hours.
I wish I could have touched
His scars from where the nails were thrust.
I wish I could have beheld His gentle face,
When He conquered death for our whole race.
